Data Architecture Lead

We are supporting an established UK organisation organisation that is investing significantly in its data capability and wider technology estate. As part of this programme, they are looking for an experienced Data Architecture Lead to help establish a more joined-up, scalable approach to how data is structured, governed and used across the organisation.
Sitting within the wider data function, this is a broad role combining architecture, technical leadership and stakeholder engagement. You will assess the existing data landscape, identify areas for improvement and help define the architecture needed to support future reporting, analytics and data initiatives.
You will work across a complex application and data environment, partnering with technical teams and senior business stakeholders to understand how information moves between systems and ensure future solutions follow consistent architectural principles.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
Understanding data movement, integrations and dependencies across the technology estate.
Defining and evolving the organisation's approach to data architecture.
Establishing appropriate architecture principles and standards.
Working closely with Data Engineering, BI, Analytics and wider Technology teams.
Supporting the development of more effective data governance and management practices.
Developing logical and conceptual data models across multiple business areas.
Providing architectural guidance across new technology and transformation initiatives.
Providing guidance and leadership to less experienced members of the data team.
We are looking for experience across:
Data architecture and data modelling within a complex organisation.
Microsoft Fabric.
Modern cloud data platforms, ideally within the Microsoft/Azure ecosystem.
SQL and relational database technologies.
Data governance and information management.
Communicating complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You do not need to be purely strategic. This position will suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of an organisation's data landscape while also being able to step back and determine what the future architecture should look like.
