Rust Developer
Permanent | London | Hybrid – approximately 3 days per week
We are partnering with an ambitious infrastructure technology company that is looking for an experienced Rust Developer to join its growing engineering team.
This is not a purely internal product engineering role. Alongside building high-performance software, you will work directly with customers to help deploy, integrate and optimise the technology within complex real-world environments.
That means the role combines deep technical engineering with customer problem-solving. You might spend part of your week designing and developing Rust services and another part working alongside an engineering team at a customer to understand their environment, diagnose an issue or determine the best way to deploy the platform.
What you will work on
You will build and evolve systems software primarily in Rust, contributing across architecture, performance, reliability and integration.
The environment is highly technical and infrastructure-focused, so experience across areas such as Linux, distributed systems, networking, developer tooling, build infrastructure or cloud platforms would translate particularly well.
You will also work closely with customer engineering teams, helping them successfully adopt and operate the technology. Strong communication is therefore just as important as technical depth.
We are particularly interested in people with:
Strong commercial Rust engineering experience.
Good knowledge of Linux-based systems and infrastructure.
Experience developing networked, asynchronous or distributed services.
Exposure to technologies such as gRPC, HTTP, Tokio or similar Rust ecosystem tooling.
The ability to investigate complex technical problems independently.
Confidence communicating directly with experienced engineers and technical customers.
Experience building infrastructure, developer tools, distributed platforms or performance-sensitive systems would be particularly valuable.
You do not need to come from a traditional consultancy background, but you should enjoy working directly with users of the technology and be comfortable moving between product engineering and customer-facing technical work.
The engineering team is London-based and typically works together in the office around with flexibility where appropriate. Some customer interaction may also take place across different locations and time zones.
This is an opportunity to join a technically ambitious team where you can remain hands-on with Rust while gaining significant exposure to complex customer environments and challenging infrastructure problems.
