Senior Software Engineer – Security & Scale up to £120k – Reading/hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team focused on protecting digital communications and preventing data loss. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about building secure, scalable systems.

As part of the team, you will contribute to the development of cloud-based services that process large volumes of sensitive data with low latency. Your work will involve designing and maintaining distributed systems, ensuring that security and privacy are built into every component. You will also play a key role in the end-to-end delivery of features, from design and implementation through to deployment and monitoring.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build resilient, high-performance systems that process and protect sensitive data in real time.

• Develop and maintain cloud-based microservices using modern backend technologies.

• Work closely with DevOps practices, including containerization and CI/CD pipelines, to streamline deployment and operations.

• Ensure security and privacy are central to all engineering decisions and implementations.

• Mentor and collaborate with peers, providing technical leadership and participating in design reviews.

• Support and enhance business-critical systems, focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience with Python for backend development

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and cloud services

• Familiarity with containerization using Docker

• Ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver engineering projects

• A collaborative mindset and a passion for continuous learning

• Experience working with sensitive data and a strong understanding of security and privacy best practices
