About the role


You’ll act as the technical authority across multiple product lines, guiding engineering teams and stakeholders through architectural decisions that balance innovation, performance, and compliance. This is a hands‑on, strategic position where you’ll define standards, champion best practices, and ensure the platform evolves with robustness and elegance. The role is primarily remote, with occasional on‑site collaboration in London for workshops, planning sessions, and key project milestones.


Key responsibilities


  • Design and evolve the overall system architecture for cloud‑based legaltech products.

  • Lead technical decision‑making, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and compliance teams to align technology with business goals.

  • Conduct architectural reviews, produce technical roadmaps, and mentor development teams.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement across the engineering function.

  • Ensure solutions meet industry standards, including data protection and regulatory requirements.


Requirements


  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect or Senior Engineer working on complex distributed systems.

  • Strong background in modern cloud ecosystems (Azure or AWS), microservices, APIs, and event‑driven architectures.

  • Solid understanding of security, identity, and data governance — ideally within regulated environments.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

  • A pragmatic, solutions‑focused mindset with a passion for building high‑quality, future‑proof systems.

  • Experience in legaltech, fintech, or other compliance‑heavy sectors is a bonus.
